SUMMER FACIAL CLOSE-UP - CLICK TO ENLARGE |
|
“Summer” was exhibited at the Massachusetts estate of American sculptor, Daniel Chester French, who is credited with four core monumental sculptural contributions to America between 1875-1922:
Abraham Lincoln at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington, DC, 1922
The Samuel F. Dupont Memorial Fountain, Dupont Circle, Washington DC, 1921
The Continents, United States Custom House, New York City, New York, 1906
The Minute Man at Concord, Massachusetts, 1875
“Summer” was originally purchased in 1989 at a juried exhibition at Chesterwood, a prestigious exhibition at Daniel Chester French’s estate and studio in Massachusetts where the piece was exhibited. "Summer" was then purchased by Glenna Goodacre Studio in 2007 from the collector's estate in Albany, NY.

GLENNA GOODACRE SCULPTS
"HE IS THEY ARE" |
HE IS THEY ARE
"Rarely does my work seek a social message, but with this downcast figure I am perhaps saying that we banished the Native Americans from their lands and tied their hands at the same time. When I finally had the opportunity to enlarge the original piece 12 years later, I had a dream that the figure told me his name: He Is They Are."
Glenna Goodacre (excerpt from "Glenna Goodacre:The First 25 Years")
