In 1996, the United Nations commissioned Yuri Gorbachev to create a new painting for the UN stamp "Endangered Species."

Gorbachev presented this painting, "GREEN PARROT ON RED FLOWER" to UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali at a preview exhibition in New York in 1996.
