Dear Gallery Friends, Our June newsletter is devoted to the art of internationally acclaimed Russian painter, Yuri Gorbachev. We are pleased to introduce more than twenty new oil paintings by this talented and charismatic artist. We invite you to view these brilliant new additions to our gallery, some of which are featured in this newsletter. By clicking on the images and links below, you will pass through to our website where there are more new works to view and further information about Yuri Gorbachev.
Yuri Gorbachev has recently published The Art of Paradise, a beautiful, limited-edition, hardcover book of his work, both past and present. Each book is signed and numbered, and available for $125.
Yuri Gorbachev began his career in the former USSR, where he gained recognition as a master ceramicist. He was trained in the classical methods of Soviet art academics, and acquired advanced degrees in philosophy and communication. In the early 1990s, Yuri Gorbachev arrived in the United States, where he made the major transition from ceramic art to painting.
Yuri’s
work resembles the Faberge enamels in its finish and colors, a delightful
and vibrant expression. It is a transformation of his beautiful and intricate
ceramics, a unique technique that is international in its language; it
is symbolic and speaks to viewers emotionally and intellectually. Most
importantly, Yuri’s work is uplifting, optimistic and full of joy.
The paintings of Yuri Gorbachev are as brilliant and unique as the life experiences of the artist himself. Highly stylized Czars seated in opulent settings, and storybook landscapes of snow covered mountains interspersed with elaborate architecture capture the spirit of his native Russia. Fantastic peacocks, tigers and elephants in lush tropical settings have sprung from his profound love for the exoticism of the Orient.
Perhaps even more intriguing than Yuri’s subject matter is the complex painting process of applying ceramic techniques onto his canvases. His oil and enamel paintings often incorporate gold, bronze and copper. Yuri Gorbachev’s work is now represented in the permanent collections of the Louvre, The Kremlim Museum, The Tsarskoye Selo/Palace of Alexander the Third in St. Petersburg, and more than twenty museums and public collections worldwide. Yuri is currently in Prague for a major exhibition of his work.
