GLENN HARRINGTON IN STUDIO

The paintings of Glenn Harrington are recognized and collected internationally.  He has been featured in such publications as American Arts Quarterly, American Art Collector, International Artists Magazine, the covers of American Artist & US Art, New Art International, The New York Times, GQ Japan, and The Philadelphia Inquirer. Harrington has had numerous solo exhibitions in New York, Japan, South Carolina and Pennsylvania, and has exhibited at the Norman Rockwell Museum, The Museum of American Illustration, Gibbs Museum, Rauschenberg Gallery, Jack Nicklaus Museum, USGA Museum and The World Golf Hall of Fame.

Harrington’s portrait work is highly regarded, and over the past 10 years, he has won major awards from The Portrait Society of America and The Oil Painters of America. His portrait of Maria Callas was used to promote the Tony Award winning play “Master Class.”  Over the years, The World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine Florida commissioned Harrington to paint forty portraits of their inductees including Payne Stuart, Ben Hogan and President Dwight D. Eisenhower. In addition, thirty oils, highlighting the career of Jack Nicklaus, were commissioned by the Jack Nicklaus Museum in Columbus, Ohio.  Harrington’s commissions also include a portrait of Wilbur Ross and three murals highlighting golfers Greg Norman and Padraig Harrington that were installed at Doonbeg Golf Club, County Clare, Ireland in 2006.

Glenn Harrington's paintings have been published on over 600 book covers including such classics as Room with a View, Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights, Man and Superman, Dangerous Liaisons, The Golden Bowl, Silas Marner, Mansfield Park and Carl Sandburg's Pulitzer Prize winning book, Abe Lincoln Grows Up .  Two books, containing forty oils commissioned by Sterling Publishing, were printed on the plays and poetry of William Shakespeare and W.B. Yeats.

Disney Publishing commissioned fifty original oils for their children's book Tarzan. In 2008, Disney commissioned Harrington to "make Snow White real," and they are considering having him paint the entire story for a book.  In 2009, Harrington was commissioned to paint golf legend, Seve Ballesteros for the 2010 Memorial Tournament adding to more than 20 other inductee portraits, including Payne Stuart and Ben Hogan that he has painted for the Memorial Tournament.  George Lucas commissioned an interpretive “Star Wars” painting for a book Lucas is publishing with Harry Abrams. And most recently, Glenn Harrington received the commission to paint the portrait of President George H.W. Bush for the World Golf Hall of Fame.
